Are you a high school student interested in engineering, STEM, construction, robotics, drones, or problem solving? Join us for a hands-on STEM day camp at Virginia Tech where you will work with engineers, industry professionals, Virginia Tech faculty, and other students to explore real-world engineering challenges.

This camp is designed for rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors who want to learn by doing, build their resume, and experience what engineering can look like in college and beyond.

Camp Details

Dates: July 22 - 24, 2026

Time: 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM each day

Location: Virginia Tech Campus

Who Can Apply: Rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors

Cost: $300 per camper 

Camp Type: 3-day day camp

Important Note: Travel and lodging are not provided. Campers must be dropped off and picked up each day. Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided each day. 

What You’ll Do

During the camp, students will participate in hands-on engineering activities, team challenges, and campus experiences, including:

• Engineering design challenges

• Drone and robotics activities

• Construction and building projects

• STEM lab and campus tours

• Construction site tours

• Virginia Tech campus tour

• Team-based problem solving

• Networking with engineers and industry professionals

• Learning about engineering careers and college pathways

About SAME

This camp is hosted through the Society of American Military Engineers, a national organization that connects students, professionals, companies, and government agencies in engineering, architecture, construction, STEM, and national security-related fields.

Through SAME, students can gain early exposure to professional networks, mentorship, scholarships, leadership opportunities, and future career pathways.

The camp is organized through the SAME Central Virginia Post, with support from the SAME Blue Ridge Post, SAME Northern Virginia Post and SAME Washington DC Post.
